Itching

Itching can be extremely painful and affect the well-being very much. Itching is a symptom of many diseases. The most common cause are small moisture and defecation secretions as they occur such as haemorrhoids, anal fissures, intestinal mucosal inflammation, fistulas, skin tags, fecal incontinence and diarrhea in different proctologic diseases. Even skin conditions of the anal region such as psoriasis, eczema, genital warts (condyloma) and parasites can cause itching. Fungal diseases (mycoses) are much less common than suspected, but they need to be recognized in the case of a disease and treated accordingly. Also sensitivities to certain foods and spices and an aggressive bowel movement can cause itching. Incorrect anal hygiene, poor as well as an exaggerated one, can cause itching. Wipes, soaps and intimate lotions should not be used.
